A type of non-glandular trichome found on cannabis plants, primarily on the leaves and stems. Unlike glandular trichomes, which produce cannabinoids and terpenes, cystolithic hairs serve a protective role by acting as a physical barrier against pests and environmental stressors. These hairs have a stiff, pointed structure and are often visible as fine, bristle-like hairs. They contain calcium carbonate crystals, giving them a rough texture, but do not contribute to the psychoactive or aromatic properties of the plant.
