Unwanted light entering a dark environment during the flowering stage of cannabis growth. In indoor cultivation, cannabis plants rely on strict light cycles, particularly 12 hours of uninterrupted darkness during the flowering stage, to trigger and maintain flower production. If light leaks occur—such as light seeping through cracks in grow tents, windows, or ventilation systems—they can disrupt this dark period, potentially causing the plant to become stressed out, and in some cases, could cause them to show hermaphrodite traits, which could pollinate and ruin your harvest.

In the Wild — Example
A single light leak around a poorly sealed tent door was enough to stress three plants into herming.
