A naturally occurring gas composed of three oxygen atoms. It exists in both the Earth’s upper atmosphere (the ozone layer) and at ground level. In the context of cannabis cultivation and storage, ozone is used for its powerful oxidizing properties to help purify air and kill mold, bacteria, and pests. However, excessive exposure to ozone can be harmful to both plants and humans.
