A plant characteristic where the leaves or other plant parts display multiple colors, often in patches or streaks. In cannabis, variegation can appear as patterns of green, yellow, white, or even pinkish hues on the leaves. This occurs due to genetic mutations, nutrient variations, or environmental factors that cause some cells to lack chlorophyll (the green pigment). While variegation can add visual appeal, it may also reduce a plant’s overall photosynthetic efficiency since non-green areas have lower chlorophyll levels.
