A non-psychoactive cannabinoid found in cannabis plants. It is often referred to as the “mother cannabinoid” because it serves as the chemical precursor to most other cannabinoids, such as THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol), CBD (Cannabidiol), and CBC (Cannabichromene). CBG itself does not produce a “high” and is present in smaller amounts in most mature cannabis varieties since enzymes convert it into compounds like THC, CBD, and CBC during the plants development cycle. Research is picking up with a highly impactful 2024 study pointing to benefits with anxiety and verbal memory recall, without intoxicating effects typically associated with cannabis. It is also being studied for a number of other potential benefits such as inflammation, blood pressure, glaucoma, and IBS. Abbreviated CBG.
