Abbreviation for Cannabinol. A mildly psychoactive minor cannabinoid found in cannabis, and forms as THC degrades over time due to exposure to light, heat, and oxygen. CBN in higher amounts is often associated with sedative effects and is generally an indicator of improper storage or age. CBN is gaining a large amount of attention in research and retail after a 2024 human trial found CBN showed improved quality of sleep, in some cases even better than melatonin.
