A complex biological system found in all mammals, including humans, that helps regulate almost every system in the body, affecting physiological processes such as mood, pain, appetite, immune response, and sleep. The ECS was first discovered in the late 1980’s and early 1990’s and has been found to interact with cannabinoids produced by the body (called endocannabinoids) as well as cannabinoids from external sources, like THC and CBD from cannabis.
