Abbreviation for Tetrahydrocannabivarinic Acid. The raw acid form of THCV, found most commonly in living cannabis plants. Like all acid form cannabinoids, it begins as non psychoactive and converts to its active form, THCV, when exposed to heat through smoking, vaporizing, or baking. Found more commonly in certain African landrace varieties that naturally produce elevated levels of the varin series cannabinoids. Research specifically into THCVA is extremely limited with most research attention focused on THCV itself rather than its acid precursor. Like other cannabinoid acids it likely serves to protect the plant with antioxidant and antimicrobial properties in its raw form, which is consistent across acid-form cannabinoids.
