Abbreviation for Tetrahydrocannabiphorol. A naturally occurring phorol homolog of THC, possessing a 7-carbon alkyl side chain rather than the standard 5-carbon side chain. It was first identified by Italian researchers in 2019 alongside CBDP. The longer chain allows THCP to more precisely fit the CB1 receptor, giving it approximately a 33 times stronger binding affinity compared to Delta-9-THC in laboratory studies. Animal studies suggest similar effects to THC at around half the dose. While found in very small trace amounts, some researchers believe it may partially explain why some varieties feel significantly stronger than their THC percent alone would suggest.
